In addition to the fire in Blairsville Borough and the vehicle accident we reported on in Center Township, Indiana County first responders had an active day Monday with several calls reported.
Indiana and Aultman fire departments were called out to the first of two brush fires in Center Township around 3:04 p.m. In a Facebook post, Indiana fire officials said they were dispatched to a fire in the 4000 block of Warren Road. They said the cause of the fire was a large wood pile behind the house. Crews gained access off Fenton Road and a nearby field, and extinguished the fire using several thousands of gallons of water.
The next brush fire dispatched Homer City Volunteer Fire Department to Route 56 East around 6:04 p.m. No details are available on this call. This brings the total number of brush fires in Indiana County to 19.
Iselin/West Lebanon fire crews were called out to handle a brush fire along Rearicks Fording Road in Ford City, Armstrong County, around 2:08 p.m. Tunnelton Volunteer Fire Department was initially called in for standby detail, but was called in to assist around 3:23.
Indiana fire crews were also called out for a report of utility lines down around Hood School Road in White Township around 10 a.m.
