The Pirates’ full squad reports to Bradenton today for Spring Training, although most of the guys are already there. The team will work out at Pirate City this week before moving to LECOM Park, where the first exhibition game is scheduled for Saturday against Toronto. The first radio game of the season will be next Monday against the Phillies.
First baseman Ji-Man Choi appeared to have no restrictions as he took grounders and he also said he has no hard feelings towards the Bucs after losing his arbitration case to them over the weekend, and after having been blocked from playing for Korea in the World Baseball Classic. The Pirates made the move because of concerns with Choi’s elbow. He had surgery to remove bone chips from the elbow in November, right after his acquisition by Pittsburgh.
