The Pitt Panthers’ six-game winning streak was snapped by Virginia Tech Saturday, and the 79-72 defeat dropped the Panthers from a first-place tie with Virginia to third in the ACC, trailing the Cavaliers and Miami. The Panthers are up on fourth place Clemson by just a half game.
The foul-plagued Panthers had to put some some odd combinations of players on the court at times, with so many guys in foul trouble. The usually reliable Blake Hinson fouled out and finished just 1-for-8 from the field. Jamarius Burton led the Panthers with 15 points. Feddie Federinko scored 12 and Greg Elliott and Nelly Cummings each had 11.
Pitt fell to 19-7, 12-4 in the ACC.
