The KCAC is set to host several events next month, including one that’s expected to bring a lot of revenue to the county.
Along with the upcoming Armstrong-Indiana Builders Association Home Show and the possibility of IUP hosting some college basketball games, the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex will host the upcoming Keystone State Wrestling Tournament. The independently organized tournament’s mission is to determine a true champion in four divisions. The event has been held in different locations in each of the three years of its existence, and Heather Marcozzi, one of the tournament’s organizers, said the KCAC was the big draw for the tournament.
Organizers say that with 2000 competitors combined with parents, coaches and fans, about 10,000 people are expected to visit the area over the weekend. Indiana County Tourism Bureau executive director Laura Herrington said that people are expected to spend a lot over the weekend, and not just on hotel rooms.
Herrington anticipates that those visiting the county could spend millions of dollars over the weekend.
The tournament is scheduled for March 17th to the 19th at the KCAC, and qualifiers are going on right now throughout the state.
