The NFL Draft begins on Thursday in its remodeled Covid-19 format, but the Steelers do not have a pick until Friday’s second round.
The many experts offering opinions on the draft predict mostly that they’ll go for offense with their first choice. ESPN’s Mel Kiper says it will be Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Sports Illustrated predicts the Steelers will take LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire with pick #49.
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso says it will be Coloroado wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. Another CBS Sports prediction is for Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
USA Today says Pittsburgh takes Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins.
WalterFootball goes defense, with edge rusher Jon Greenard of Florida.
And Pro Football Network predicts a trade with Denver, swapping pick number 49 for three lower slots, third round numbers 77, 83, and sixth round number 181. With those picks, PFN says Pittsburgh will select Connecticut offensive tackle Matthew Peart, South Carolina wide receiver Bryan Edwards, and edge rusher Trevis Gipson of Tulsa.
