In a move to help save the county money during the Covid-19 pandemic, 98 Indiana County employees will be furloughed starting today.
Mellissa Miller of the county’s HR department said that the furloughs are planned to last through the end of May, but that could end sooner or later than that depending on the coronavirus outbreak’s progress.
County Commissioners Chair Mike Keith explained why the layoffs were needed.
Furloughs are being seen across many of the court’s row offices. No word yet if those on furlough will continue to receive benefits.
