PSP-INDIANA
A Bentleyville man is charged with underage drinking on Thursday night. State Police say they were called out to the 500 block of Maple Street in White Township for a report of an unresponsive man. When they found the man, an un-named 19-year-old, it was determined that he was highly intoxicated, and he was taken to IRMC for treatment. A non-traffic citation was filed through District Judge Susanne Steffee’s office.
Both driver and passenger escaped injury in a crash involving a deer on Monday night. This was on Route 22 in Burrell Township. 81-year-old Andrew Pytel of State College was driving east on 22 and hit a deer in the middle of the travel lane, causing damage to the driver’s side front end, head light and other parts of the car. The car had to be towed from the scene. Neither Pytel or his passenger were injured.
State Police are investigating a drug offense that was discovered Thursday at the Indiana County Jail. Police have three suspects that they are investigating in connection with an attempt to smuggle narcotics into the county jail through the US Mail. The smuggling attempt was discovered by jail personnel when they were examining incoming parcels. The suspects were not named, but the investigation is on-going at this point.
PSP-KITTANNING
State Police are investigating a case of access device fraud in nearby Dayton. Police say they were called on Friday afternoon as they discovered that a 39-year-old woman had been scammed out of $250. A 14-year-old boy from Altoona, who was not identified due to his age, was behind the scheme as he used two credit cards to charge the money to her accounts. The boy will face charges, and the investigation is on-going.
