The Indiana School Board will meet on Monday, and several items are on the agenda.
One will be a presentation the board will see on Bond Refinancing. Later in the meeting, the board will be asked to approve a motion to refinance portions of the 2012 and 2013 general obligation bonds. The refinancing is expected to bring a savings of nearly $198,000 to the district. Another financial issue that will come up will be a tabled motion to pay all the construction bills related to the aborted Ben Franklin Elementary School Project. The board had tabled the payment of bills once before as Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro brought up concerns that the billing was in fact properly accounted for for the amount of work done on the project. During public comment and board discussion at their meeting on October 22nd, it was brought up that the district may be in a position to try and negotiate a lower bill for the services provided by McKissick Associates.
The Summit Platform will also be addressed during the meeting, as a motion will be proposed to gather costs for an independent party to take a survey of junior high parents, teachers and students who are directly involved in implementing the Summit Platform program in grade six. The program has come under fire as of late from parents who feel that the students are not getting enough time with teachers and too much time in front of a computer screen. The summit learning platform will also be brought up for general discussion by the board, but the exact topic has not been stated in the proposed agenda for Monday.
The meeting starts Monday at 7:30 at the District offices at East Pike.
