Monday night’s Purchase Line school board meeting had a bittersweet flavor to it as outgoing superintendent Shawn Ford addressed the board for a final time.
Ford notified district parents and employees in November that he would step down from his position to become the assistant superintendent at the Dubois Area School District, and last month, the board hired Dave London to fill his role on an interim basis.
Ford has been at the helm of Purchase Line School District since September 2018 and he said one thing he’s most proud of was how the district responded during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also thanked the community for helping him grow as a person and as a professional.
Ford’s last day is Wednesday.
In other business, the board received good news during its annual audit report from Brenda Powlowski of Kotzan CPA and Associates. She said the district received clean opinions and did not have any negative remarks during the past year.
The board also approved hiring Kristina Small as the head track and field coach and Karen Woods as the head volleyball coach for the 2023-24 school year.
