Sixty-three airports in Pennsylvania will receive more than $239,000,00 in federal grant money to offset the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The funding is part of the CARES Act passed by Congress last month.
The money is contingent upon the airports keeping at least ninety percent of its workforce during the shutdown of the economy.
Indiana County’s Jimmy Stewart Airport will receive $30,000. The Arnold Palmer Airport in Latrobe is in line for more than $2.4 million and the John P. Murtha Airport in Johnstown will get more than $5.1 million. Punxsutawney Municipal Airport and the Ebensburg Airport will each receive $20,000.
The funds will be administered through the Federal Aviation Administration, which will use a streamlined grant process to expedite the grants.
