The newest class of the WPIAL Hall of Fame was announced earlier this morning. In a video announcement on the Trib Live High School Sports Network, representatives with the WPIAL said this year’s class will officially be recognized as the class of 2021, as the banquet for this year was cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns.
In the athlete category, the honorees are:
- Natalie Bower-Toman of Latrobe High School for Track and Field and Cross Country
- Michaela Kissel-Eddins of Latrobe High School for Tennis
- Rob Gagliani of Avella for Rifle
- James Gulibon of Derry for Wrestling
- Ed Josefosky of Penn Hills for Volleyball
- Katie Miller-Gee of Hempfield for Golf
- Samantha Pickens of Franklin-Regional for Diving
- Darelle Revis of Alliquippa for Football
In the Coaching Category
- Gene Kline of Quaker Valley for Soccer
- Joseph C. Maize of Peter Township for Baseball
For the Team category
- The 1980 North Hills Softball team
- The 2004 Upper St. Clair Boys Soccer Team
In the Heritage Category
- Joe Tranchini of Clairton for Football
In the officials category
- Tom Evans, baseball umpire
And the Charles A. Eberling Contributor awardee
- Amy Caprino, for contributions to WPIAL Gymnastics
- David W. Hayes of the WPIAL Board of Directors and their Scholarship Committee
And the Courage award will go to
- Anthony Chicutt of Bethel Park, a cancer survivor and three-sport standout
The class will be officially inducted next year at the banquet on May 28, 2021.
