Gas price averages across the nation and across Pennsylvania over the last week have continued to go down.
Triple-A reports that the national average cost of gas is $3.42 a gallon as of this morning. That is a six-cent drop from last week, but it remains sixteen cents higher from where it was last month. Over the last year, the average had dropped six cents. Demand has been low across the nation, dropping by 700,000 barrels a day to 8.43 million at the end of this week. Total domestic gas stocks have also gone up by 5 million barrels to 239.6 million. Pump prices are expected to drop further if demand remains low.
Pennsylvania’s average this morning is $3.72 a gallon. It went down by five cents over the last week, but is eight cents higher than last month. Last year, the average five cents lower at $3.67. Indiana County’s average this morning is $3.83. Comparing that to other counties in the area, Armstrong County has the lowest average at $3.78. That’s followed by Jefferson County at $3.81, followed by Indiana, then both Westmoreland and Clearfield Counties at $3.84 a gallon. Cambria County has the highest average in the region at $3.87 a gallon.
Crawford, Warren and McKean counties tied for the highest county-wide average at $3.89 a gallon, while Delaware County has the lowest average at $3.54 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana and Homer City are at $3.83 a gallon, while prices in Blairsville are at $3.87 a gallon. In Clymer, prices are lower at $3.79 a gallon.
