After years in the court system, two criminal cases see action today before Judge William Martin.
One of them involves 36-year-old Jeff Sever of Monroeville, Allegheny County, who pleaded guilty in February 2014 to a single count of bad checks for a 2012 offense. At the time of his guilty plea, Sever was given until May 9th to pay restitution and costs of $4,519, which would be accepted as a settlement. But he failed to make the payment, and then didn’t show up in court on May 9th. After numerous postponements, he is scheduled to be sentenced today.
Also in court today, a motions hearing is scheduled for 33-year-old Franklin Ellis Jr. of Braddock, Allegheny County, in a December, 2015 drug case. He’s charged with possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility, and simple possession. Jury selection for Ellis is scheduled for November 20th.
