Governor Tom Wolf’s decision to close Pennsylvania’s schools for the remainder of the year also brought an end to high school sports for the year, and an unfortunate end to the high school careers of seniors who were wrapping up the winter seasons and just getting ready to open their spring seasons.
The seasons were suspended by the PIAA on March 12th, right after the Penns Manor girls beat West Middlesex, 46-39, to advance to the final eight in Girls AA basketball. They would have met District 6 archrival Bellwood Antis in the next round.
In hockey, Indiana had just beaten Kiski Area, 4-2 in the Penguins Cup PIHL semifinals. The Little Indians will be denied a chance to win their first Penguins Cup championship against Thomas Jefferson. That game had been scheduled for March 16th.
