Governor Tom Wolf and The Pennsylvania Department of Education have announced that schools will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 academic year. The decision applies to all K-12 schools, including brick and mortar, cyber schools, private or parochial schools, career and technology centers and intermediate units, early learning classrooms, pre-K counts programs, Head Start and Preschool early intervention courses.
In a video message, Governor Tom Wolf said that even though the buildings remain closed, it does not mean that efforts to educate children and in some cases feed them free meals will stop.
Governor Wolf also said that the decision to close schools for the remainder of the school year was not an easy decision as schools are places of hope and stability for many students.
The state Department of Education has put together some resources that districts can use to make sure that students continue their education from home.
