Texas Rangers lefty James Jones tore his right patellar tendon on Monday when he tripped over his son’s toy and fell at his home. Jones underwent surgery Wednesday and will miss the entire season. He’s a converted outfielder who was competing for a job in the Rangers’ bullpen.
ESPN is reporting that former Astros manager AJ Hinch and ex-general manager Jeff Luhnow will complete their year-long suspensions for their roles in Houston’s sign-stealing scandal even if the coronavirus pandemic leads to MLB not playing any games in 2020. The report said the suspensions are tied to the end of the 2020 postseason rather than a specific number of games.
The White Sox have announced that longtime team broadcaster and former pitcher Ed Farmer died at the age of 70 on Wednesday night after battling kidney disease. Following his playing career, Farmer became a radio broadcaster with the White Sox in 1992 and served as the play-by-play man for the past 14 seasons.
