In a news conference yesterday, PA Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine said that predicting when the COVID-19 outbreak will hit its peak in Pennsylvania is difficult to determine.
Levine reported yesterday that 756 new cases of COVID-19 were reported across the state, bringing the statewide total to 4,843. There were also 14 new deaths related to COVID-19 reported, bringing the statewide total to 63. In Indiana County, four new cases of coronavirus were reported, bringing the county’s total to six.
Levine said that the spike in coronavirus cases is hard to predict because infectious disease modeling is complex and there are many different factors in play. She added the state is working with University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, which has created a Pennsylvania-specific model for Covid-19.
Levine said that mitigation efforts ordered by Governor Tom Wolf could significantly impact the model.
