Stormy weather over the weekend kept area firefighters extremely busy. On Saturday, it was heavy rains that caused problems. Yesterday, it was the wind.
Fire companies were dispatched for pumping details Saturday in Center and Canoe townships.
Yesterday morning, they were pumping out more basements. Rossiter firefighters were sent to Central Street. Tunnelton was dispatched to Clawson Road and to Hill Road in Conemaugh Township.
The heavy winds of the afternoon brought down trees and wires. Plumville was summoned for a tree on power lines along Atwood Road in Washington Township; Tunnelton to a tree and utility lines down on Tunnelton Road in Conemaugh Township; Commodore answered a call for a tree on wires along Smith Street in Green Township; Indiana firefighters were called for utility lines down on Martin Road in White Township; Indiana, Elderton, and Aultman were sent to a wind-swept brush fire along Crown Heights Drive in Armstrong Township; Saltsburg firefighters were dispatched to clean up debris on the road on Clubhouse Drive in Westmoreland County; and Pine Township and Cherryhill Township were sent to Route 422 in Pine Township for a miscellaneous incident which is not detailed.
Finally, Clyde, Bolivar, Fairfield, and New Florence fire companies were sent to a structure fire on Caroline Street in Robinson.
