Already strapped for cash, IUP and the thirteen other State System of Higher Education universities have found themselves facing a new and potentially devastating financial blow…returning room and board payments and fees to students who are no longer able to attend their schools in person.
The State System yesterday said it’s projecting a loss of $100 million total for the refunds, and each university is going to have to find the money from within its own budget.
Numbers for individual universities were not released. The State System addressed the situation with the schools last week, offering guidance but leaving the decision-making to each of the school administrations.
Tuition will not be refunded, since the students are finishing the semester online.
