We won’t know for another month what impact the coronavirus pandemic is having on the unemployment rate in Pennsylvania, but figures for the month of February have been released.
The Dept.of Labor and Industry reports Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate stands at 4.7 percent, unchanged from the January figure. With businesses forced to close in an attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus, the jobless rate is expected to significantly increase a month from now. Over the last month, the largest gains came in the manufacturing sector, with a record high of more than 6.1 million jobs.
.At this time last year Pennsylvania’s jobless rate was 4.1 percent.
