Brush fire season continues as one was reported in East Wheatfield Township Sunday afternoon.
The call initially came in as a structure fire caused by a brush fire at 2:24 PM at a property on Richmond Road. According to Indiana County 911, Marion Center, Plumville and Clymer fire departments were called out along with Citizens Ambulance. A representative with the Marion Center Fire Department said that the brush fire was about two acres in size, and reached the exterior wall of a brick garage. Little to no damage was done to the structure as crews were able quickly extinguish the fire.
Fire officials say that the brush fire was started by a homeowner who was burning trash nearby. Fire crews were on the scene for about an hour. No one was hurt.
This marks the 23rd brush fire reported this year so far.
