Men’s coach Joe Lombardi says while it was fortunate that Jaylen Stewart picked up the slack in a sluggish first half, but every team has games when they are not at their best.
IUP has won five straight and nine out of the last ten against tomorrow night’s opponent, Slippery Rock. Their last loss was at Slippery Rock in January of 2019. Lombardi expects a battle.
For the third time this season, IUP’s Shawndale Jones has been named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week, as he averaged 27 points and 5.5 rebounds in wins over Clarion and Cal U last week while shooting 42.5 percent from the floor. Saturday’s 31-point performance against Cal was his first 30-plus game of the season. Jones leads the conference in scoring at 20.6 points per game.
