Indiana County’s public schools are off until March 30th, and each district is considering options for feeding homebound students, and for possibly educating them at home.
At Indiana Area, a feeding program is scheduled to start Wednesday, as a drive-thru service from 11 Am to 1 PM at the senior high school and at Ben Franklin Elementary. Breakfasts and lunches will be provided in one stop near each school’s front entrance.
The Chevy Chase Community Center will have box lunches for Indiana Area students, using the back door in the parking lot. The lunches will be available from noon to 1 PM Monday through Wednesday, and a double-lunch will be provided on Thursday to also cover Friday.
Spaghetti Benders in Downtown Indiana will offer free spaghetti lunches to all students Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 3 PM during the two-week closure. Grade-school students must be accompanied by a parent. Older students should present their student ID. Anyone wishing to help the restaurant offset the expense may write a check to Spaghetti Benders, with “free lunch program” on the memo line. The address is 563 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, PA, 15701. All donations will be shared with the Chevy Chase Community Center.
