The Catholic Diocese of Greensburg has announced that congregants are not obliged to attend Sunday Mass if they are concerned about coronavirus, and has also made changes to the Lenten seafood dinners offered by Catholic churches in the region.
Large group non-liturgical events and church fundraisers are canceled starting tomorrow.
The Lenten fish dinners will go on as scheduled today for sit-down dining, but starting tomorrow, they will be open only for take-out for the rest of the season, unless otherwise notified.
At the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent, not only will they have sit down service for this week’s fish dinner, but they will also offer drive-through service for the first time this week. Father Matthew Morelli talked about plans starting with next week’s dinner.
Non-essential homebound and nursing home pastoral care is suspended, and Bishop Edward Malesic strongly suggests that those taking communion receive it in the hand rather than on the tongue.
