IUP yesterday announced the extension of Spring Break until March 23rd, and has told students not to return to campus until Saturday, the 21st at the earliest. Meanwhile, the university’s faculty is preparing for the possibility of moving their classes online.
Current online classes will resume on Monday, and faculty members are already working to restructure their classes for online delivery. Faculty and staff are to report to work as usual, and the business offices are working as normal as well.
IUP says that through April 19th, any events that would draw more than 75 people are canceled, rescheduled, or restructured. Any classes of 75 students or more will be online only, and faculty who teach classes with fewer than 75 students are being encouraged to prepare to do the same thing, as they might be required to move to online teaching on short notice. Once a class does move online, it will remain so for the rest of the semester.
With IUP’s extension of Spring Break announced yesterday, Clarion would have been the only other State System school not to announce changes, but Clarion’s administration announced they are suspending face-to-face classes until further notice.
