Agnes “Aggie” Stumpf, 78, of Hillsdale, PA went home to be with her Lord on Saturday,October 21, 2017 from the Communities At Indian Haven in Indiana, PA.
The daughter of Norris “Odin” and Annie Pearl (Sheesley) Stumpf, she was born on July 15, 1939 in Banks Twp., Indiana County, PA.
Aggie attended elementary school in Gipsy and Hillsdale, PA. Her high school years were spent at the Montgomery Township High School until the school jointure occurred. She finished out her high school education at Purchase Line High School, where she was a graduate of the 1958 class.
A woman of great faith, she was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. Fordecades she attended the Hillsdale United Methodist Church until the Purchase Line United Methodist Church was formed. She devotedly served her church for many years as the church secretary from 1972 until November 27, 2005; as a youth leader and in many capacities.
Aggie was a member of the Indiana District of the United Methodist Church and served as secretary of the district council for fifteen years.
She served as a Lay Equalization Delegate to the Western PA Annual Conference and as a member of the Western PA Conference Archives and History Committee.Following high school graduation, Aggie was employed for eleven years at King Leathers of Indiana, PA before embarking on a thirty year career with FMC Corporation.
Since May of 2000, Aggie worked as a part time secretary and greeter at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. Her loyalty and dedication to the funeral home and its staff will be greatly missed.
Aggie was a longtime member of the former Schryock Grange #1359 of Bowdertown, PA, where she could be found greeting folks at the biannual meals while working at the ticket table.
She thoroughly loved her role as coordinator of the Adult Walking Program she helped to initiate at the Purchase Line High School. Aggie greatly enjoyed being part of the Hillsdale community, where she had made her home since July of 1947. She loved seeing and visiting with her friends and neighbors at community and church events and dinners.
She is survived by her brother, John A. Stumpf of Barr Slope, PA; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Winnie.
Aggie was preceded in death by her father in Dec. 1946; her mother in April 1992; three brothers: Norris; Harry H. and George C. Stumpf and her sister, Ethelmary P. (Stumpf) Conrad.
Family and friends will be received from 4-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA and on Monday, October 23, 2017 from noon until the time of the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at the Purchase Line United Methodist Church in Purchase Line with Pastor Raymond Hill officiating. Interment will follow at the Rowley Cemetery in Hillsdale, PA
