It was a very active weekend in the Pirates’ offices, with the team agreeing to contract terms with Andrew McCutchen, announcing agreements with four arbitration-eligible pitchers, and making twenty-two international signings of prospects, including 18-year-old star Korean pitcher Jun-Seok Shim and 17-year-old power-hitting Dominican Republic outfielder Raymond Mola.
The Bucs signed one-year contracts with right-handed pitchers Mitch Keller, JT Brubaker, Robert Stephenson, and Duane Underwood Jr., all avoiding arbitration, while they did not reach agreement with newly-acquired first baseman Ji-Man Cho by Friday’s deadline. The two sides are apparently headed to arbitration next month.
