The Homer-Center school board approved a utility fixed-rate agreement which will save the district money, revisited a certain field trip discussion tabled last month, and granted tenure to a staff member at Tuesday’s meeting.
The Board approved an Electricity Supply Agreement with Constellation NewEnergry, Inc. at a rate of .049 cents per kilowatt hour. According to Business Manager Greg Cessna, the new rate will save the district roughly $30,000 per year and will become active December 5th, and will expire on December 1, 2021.
In other news, the board revisited a request to revise the spring training trip cycle for softball. The four-year cycle has been changed to a two-year cycle, with baseball and softball permitted to take trips on even-numbered years, while band and chorus will take trips on odd-numbered years.
On motions regarding personnel, the board approved seven new substitute teachers, and granted tenure to School Nurse Lisa Golec, who has completed three years of work in the district.
Lastly, Board President Vicki Smith was recognized for 20 years of service to the district, 6th grader Lucas Hurd and 11th grader Patrick Andrei were given Wildcat Recognition Awards, and Laken Hill is the Kiwanis Senior of the Month.
Congratulations to those recognized from your hometown radio stations!
