The Boston Red Sox scored three runs in the seventh inning and held on to beat the Pirates, 6-3, Wednesday in a game that ended after the top of the eighth.
Mitch Keller started and gave up two earned runs in less than two innings. The Pirates managed just four hits.
The Pirates fell to 0-5-1 to start the spring training schedule. They visit the Baltimore Orioles Thursday at 1:05 p.m.
