At last night’s Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board meeting, the board set a date for a public hearing on the topic of district reconfiguration, which could include the closure of schools on either side of the district.
By a five-four vote, the board voted to hold a public hearing on March 17th at 6:00 PM at the Saltsburg High School Auditorium. The hearing will include a presentation and a chance for people to give testimony either in favor of or against the reconfiguration issue. Save Our Saltsburg Schools Consultant Dan McGregor said last night during public comment that the group will move forward with legal action.
The motion came on the heels of a presentation from former Homer-Center Superintendent Dr. Charles Koren, who presented studies that showed lower enrollment figures and how it would affect the schools in the district. His complete presentation and other videos from last night’s meeting can be found on our WCCS Facebook page.
