Police report instances of theft and a couple crashes in Indiana County.
Borough police say two women pulled off consecutive thefts at a business on Grant Street in Indiana. The women stole sunglasses from the Meraki Boutique on Friday, then returned to the store on Saturday and did it again. The nine sets of sunglasses stolen were made by a company called “Quay.” Both women are of medium build, and both were wearing black jackets and jeans on both occasions. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 349-2121.
Borough police also report a theft from a car parked on North 15th Street overnight Friday or on Saturday. Money, cigarettes, and a half-case of beer were stolen.
State police have issued a report on an October 2nd accident on Route 119 in East Mahoning Township. It happened at the intersection of Routes 403 and 119 at the entrance to Marion Center. Police say a 17-year-old driver from Home – who is not publicly identified – pulled out from a stop sign into the path of a vehicle operated by 47-year-old William Schultz of Walston, Jefferson County. The two collided and Schultz, in attempting to avoid the crash, swerved to his left and ran head-on into the vehicle of 42-year-old Jerry Phillips of High Point, North Carolina, who had been stopped waiting to turn left. The teen driver and Schultz both suffered suspected minor injuries and were taken to the Indiana Regional Medical Center. Phillips was not injured.
No report is available yet on an accident late Saturday night on Spaulding Road in Cherryhill Township, or on a call for traffic control issued to Indiana firefighters early Sunday morning on Oakland Avenue in White Township.
