Gladys M. Neal, 94, of Indiana, formerly of Plumcreek and Melcroft, passed away Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at her home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Jones Mills, a daughter of Percy and Mary (McIndoe) Kalp.
Gladys was a former longtime resident of Plumcreek Township and was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Acme. She dedicated her life to caring for her home and family, and she was a wonderful cook. In her free time, Gladys enjoyed traveling, embroidering, sewing and especially visiting with family and friends. She just recently
attended the 101-year Kalp family reunion. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her daughters, whom she loved dearly.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughters, Virginia Cook and Patricia Berklite and husband, Barry, all of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.W. “Charley” Neal, whom she married Oct. 18, 1961, and who died March 23, 2017; and brothers J.R., James and Domer Kalp.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Clark Chapel Funeral Home, 238 S. Main St., Elderton.
Additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday at Clyde-Brooks Funeral Home, 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft, with the Rev. Benjamin Blowers and the Rev. Joseph Smith co-officiating.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Acme.
