State police have announced they launched an investigation into the theft of money from the United Band Boosters.
In a news release, state police confirmed they started the investigation into the alleged embezzlement from the booster organization. United’s acting Superintendent Dr. Charles Koren confirmed on Tuesday that the district had contacted law enforcement agencies to conduct the investigation after word got back to the district about money that had been raised for a trip to Walt Disney World had been taken out of the account. A district parent said on Tuesday night that she and her son were disappointed when it was announced that the trip scheduled for later this year and all fundraising activities for it were cancelled.
As it is still early goings in the investigation, few details are available right now. State police say they will release details as appropriate so as to not compromise the investigation.
