An Indiana native is once again in the Guinness Book of World Records for planking.
62-year-old George Hood set a new Guinness record for the longest planking session, going for 8 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds. That breaks the record of 8 hours 1 minute set by Mao Weidong in China in 2016. Hood’s attempt was made at a fitness club in Plainfield, Illinois, and was a fundraiser for the Braidwood Area Healthy Community Coalition. Hood said that this will be his last attempt for a Guinness world record.
Hood is no stranger to the Guinness Book of World Records. He is a 12 times record holder in various fitness categories. Notably, he had a successful attempt at a Guinness world record for weighted planking at the KCAC in Indiana back in September of 2015 as a fundraiser for the United Way of Indiana County, where he supported a 40 pound weight on his back while in the plank position for 2 hours, 35 minutes, 35 seconds.
