The school district calendars for this year and next year were discussed at the Homer-Center School Board meeting last night.
The board approved the 2020-2021 district calendar by an 8-1 vote last night. Board President Michael Bertig did say that they used a recent survey on the district’s website to guide the district concerning vacation days around the holidays.
The only one who voted against it was Daniel Fabin, who said they needed to take a hard look at starting the school year after labor day.
The first day of school next year will be August 25th, 2020 and the final scheduled day of class will be June 3rd, 2021.
In other business, the board approved making March 23rd a regular school day to make up for the snow day on February 7th. The board also discussed the final day of this school year, which is traditionally a half-day. This year, it falls on June 1st, which is a Monday. The board may change the date, but further discussion on the matter will be brought up at their next planning meeting.
