The weekly pace of Indiana County’s flu cases is starting to slow down.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has reported that for the flu season that started in October, Indiana County has a total of 596 laboratory-confirmed flu cases as of Wednesday, with 384 of those cases type B flu and 212 type A. That’s an increase of 57 overall cases from last week. Indiana County saw its most significant jump in flu cases the week before, when 94 new flu cases were reported.
Clearfield County saw another significant jump in flu cases, as they are now at 695 cases, an increase of 119 cases. Last week, they had 121 new cases added to their total. Jefferson County saw an increase of only 28 cases, going from 405 to 433. Armstrong County now has a total of 435 cases, an increase of 23 from last week. Cambria County had an increase of only 43 cases from 1189 to 1232. And Westmoreland County saw an increase of 210 cases from 2460 cases last week to 2670 this week.
Seven more flu-related deaths were reported across the state over the last week, bringing the total to 54 deaths this season so far.
