At their meeting Tuesday night, the River Valley School Board approved a resolution concerning property taxes.
The board unanimously approved the Act 1 resolution for the district, which was determined by the Department of Education, and it will put an upper limit on any property tax increases at 4.1 percent. The index does not lock the district into any tax increases.
Superintendent Phillip Martell said the district has no plans on increasing taxes at this time.
In other business, the board approved four new programs for the STEAM Academy. Those programs include agriculture, powerline, teacher education, and welding technology, and all will be added to the 2023-24 curriculum.
Martell said this was the right time to implement these programs.
The board also voted to enter into dual enrollment programs with the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Seton Hill University and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College. All three will go into effect next school year.
