The Pennsylvania State Police released its quarterly drug confiscation report for the final months of 2019.
Troopers confiscated more than $8.7 million worth of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and other illicit drugs in the fourth quarter of 2019, and it was reported that more than 300 pounds of heroin and fentanyl were confiscated. This surpasses the 2018 total, which totaled more than 100 pounds.
In monetary value, marijuana lead the list, as state police brought in over $3 million worth. Cocaine and heroin followed behind, each surpassing more than $1.4 million.
Additionally, state police confiscated 830 pounds of prescription drugs and other medication. Police remind everyone that there are more than 65 drug take-back boxes spread across the state, and that offers a safe way to dispose of unused or unwanted medication.
