The Marion Center school board will hold a work session tonight, with a number of items of discussion.
Included on the agenda is an adjustment of the school calendar, making March 23rd a regular school day to make up for the February 7th cancellation due to snow.
The board will also consider the ARIN Intermediate Unit budget. Marion Center’s share would be $48,946 in the next school year, a reduction of $1,377 from this year. Business Manager Rick Martini is also expected to give the board a budget update.
Director of Maintenance and Transportation Ken Kirkland will report to the board on this year’s summer projects and on the extension of water lines by Indiana County Municipal Services to the school. Last month, Senator Joe Pittman announced the award of $10.7 million in Pennvest funds for water line projects in Marion Center and Plumville and along the Route 119 and 85 corridors between the two communities. The senator specifically touted the importance of a new water source for the Marion Center school complex.
Tonight’s agenda also includes several personnel items, and the first readings of two board policies, one having to do with the district’s hiring practices for superintendent and assistant superintendent, and the other regarding the reduction of district staff.
