The weekly pace of Indiana County’s flu cases continues to accelerate. After increasing by 86 cases the previous week, there were 94 new cases last week in the county. Indiana County has had 539 laboratory-confirmed flu cases this year, 351 of them Type B and 188 Type A.
The state flu count is slowing down after peaking two weeks ago.
There was a big jump in Clearfield County, where there have been 576 flu cases this season. They added 121 new cases last week after an increase of 69 the week before. Jefferson County added 52 new cases to its total last week, bringing it to 405 for the season. They added 50 new cases two weeks ago. Armstrong eased off a bit, with 53 new cases after jumping by 72 cases the week before. There have been 412 cases of the flu there since the first week of October. Cambria County flu rate dropped slightly. At 1,189 cases, they added 63 new cases last week. Westmoreland County’s flu total was up by 179 new cases last week to 2,460, after adding 262 cases the week before.
Seven more people died from flu-related illness across the state last week, bringing the state total to 47.
