Homer-Center’s girls earned a hard-fought win over West Shamokin last night.

Penns Manor fought off a determined Cambria Heights, 63-45. The Comets were led by a double-double from Alyssa Altemus, with 20 points and 11 rebounds. She added 7 steals and 4 assists. Allie Mumau also had a double-double, with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sarah Stiteler scored 12. For the Highlanders, Sienna Kirsch scored 20 points and Gracie Vinglish had 15.
Marion Center staged a huge second-half comeback and squeezed by United, 52-47. The Stingers were down 28-12 at the half and United scored the first two buckets of the third quarter to make it a 20 point Lions lead. Heading into the fourth quarter down 40-25, Marion Center surged ahead, outscoring United 27-7 in the fourth. Lydia Miller had 21 points, 11 steals, and 8 rebounds. Kaelee Elkin scored 12 points.
Portage rebounded from their first conference loss on Tuesday with a 57-35 win over Purchase Line last night.
HOCKEY
Indiana is over .500 after a 5-1 win last night over Plum. Garrett Goodrich scored two goals and Ash Lockard, Colton Rayko, and Andrew Kobak also scored. Goaltender Luke Rowe stopped 10 of 11 shots.
Indiana’s Lockard, Rayko, Gabe Nettleton, Adam Ball, and Rowe will skate for one of the Class A teams in the 2023 PIHL All-Star game on January 29th at the RMU Island Sports Complex.
WRESTLING
Coming off a 45-21 win over Forest Hills on Wednesday, United took a 71-0 decision over undermanned Meyersdale last night.
RIFLE
Indiana rifle lost to Armstrong yesterday, 796-55x to 768-22x. Indiana’s top shooter was Nathan Teacher with a 98-4x.
