The Penguins are in Las Vegas tonight for a game against the Western Conference-leading Golden Knights. While Vegas has won two straight, including a win Monday over defending Stanley Cup champion Colorado, the Penguins have lost five straight games, the latest being the 2-1 loss Monday in the NHL Winter Classic in Boston.
Coach Mike Sullivan says the Pens realize they have to play better hockey to remain a contender.
Sullivan says his veteran team knows what it takes to win.
All season long, the coach has preached basic, detail-oriented play, and he says that is what will get the Penguins rolling again.
Goaltender Tristan Jarry is back in Pittsburgh being evaluated for his lower body injury, suffered Monday in Boston. Josh Archibald is back in Pittsburgh as well, continuing his recovery from an undisclosed injury. And Kris Letang remains away from the team tending to his family after the death of his father. Letang is also on the injury list.
Goaltender Casey DeSmith says the Pens are a team that has been through a lot, and they won’t let the losing streak get to them.
With Jarry being out an undetermined amount of time, DeSmith says he is ready to play more and can handle the extra workload.
Tonight’s game faces off at 10 PM. The pregame airs on 92.5 FM U92 at 9.
