Day Two of the Dylan Blair trial yesterday featured testimony by a friend of Michelle Spillar, who said he witnessed Blair selling Spillar the drugs that prosecutors contend killed her on the day after Christmas, 2016.
Blair is charged with drug delivery resulting in death and three counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver.
25-year-old Tyler Klapchar of Latrobe told the jury yesterday that he had used $100 his grandmother had given him for Christmas to buy drugs from Blair on the day before Christmas, had overdosed himself, and was revived when Blair put him in a shower. He said he warned Spillar about the drugs, which were labeled “Head Game”.
Spillar’s son, Devin, testified that he learned that his mother, who had struggled with addiction for years, was buying her drugs from Blair, whom he described as a former friend. Devin said he had confronted Blair a few days before his mother’s death and told him to stop selling to her.
The 38-year-old Spillar was found face down next to her bed in her Derry home, with an open packet of fentanyl-laced heroin beside her and two unopened packets nearby.
Blair, who is from Saltsburg, was apprehended in May of 2017 after being tracked down by Westmoreland County detectives at the Days Inn along Route 22 in Burrell Township.
