The Pitt Panthers are on a roll, with five consecutive wins and ten wins in their last eleven games, including last night’s come-from-behind 68-65 win over 11th-ranked Virginia. Pitt trailed by 12 points with 16 minutes left in the second half but went on a 19-3 run fueled by a 14-0 outburst to take the lead. Virginia tied the score three times but never was able to regain the lead. Blake Hinson and Nike Sibande led Pitt with 16 points each, and Jamarius Burton added 15 in Pitt’s second victory over a Top 25 opponent in five days.
Coach Jeff Capel liked the effort and said it’s another step for his young Panthers.
The Panthers are 11-4 and 4-0 in the ACC. They’ll play Clemson at the Petersen Events Center on Saturday afternoon.
