Last night, the Blairsville-Saltsburg school board heard from a group of Saltsburg citizens who are against plans to consolidate the school district.
The citizen’s group, “Save Our Schools,” was present at last night’s meeting at the Saltsburg Middle-High School Cafeteria. About a dozen members, including the group’s leader, former Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board member Dan McGregor, talked with board members, saying they were against consolidation efforts. One of the members said they were ready to do what’s needed to prevent consolidation from happening.
Citizens also questioned the appointment earlier this month of former Homer-Center Superintendent Dr. Charles Koren as a facilitator in the reconfiguration discussions at a rate of $50 an hour not to exceed $20,000. Others said they were against the idea because of the long commute that students would have from Saltsburg to Blairsville schools.
