Della M. (Jones) Miller Parkins, 89, of Shelocta, PA passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 in St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana, PA.
The daughter of Ralph H. and Lelia (Muir) Jones, she was born August 25, 1930 in Blairsville, PA.
Mrs. Parkins was a former member of the Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA.
She worked for Blairsville Wholesale Grocery from 1956 to 1969 and as a teller for CNB Bank, Punxsutawney for 40 years.
She was very dedicated to her family, very interested in genealogy and local history.
Surviving are her son, Larry R. Miller (Phyllis) of Shelocta; a stepdaughter, Carol Reyes of Tampa, FL; a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Dixon; five great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, David Jones of Aliquippa and Walter T. Jones of Homer City and a sister, Sarah Jane Allen of Homer City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Walter J. “Bucky” Miller, Jr., her second husband, Gaylord D. “Shorty” Parkins, a grandson, James R. Miller in October 2019 and two stepsons, Larry Parkins and Roy Parkins.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 5 to 6:30 P.M. Wednesday in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.
Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
