The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts has released statistics on cases of drug delivery resulting in death, and they show that Indiana County is on the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to those cases.
Statistics gathered from January of 2017 to the end of 2021 show that in that time Indiana County had a total of two cases of drug delivery resulting in death. This represents 0.18 percent of all of the drug delivery resulting in death cases in the state. Across Pennsylvania, 1141 cases have been reported in that time.
As far as surrounding counties go, Westmoreland County has one of the higher totals in the state with 71 cases reported. That’s roughly 6.2 percent of all cases in Pennsylvania. Cambria County had five cases reported over that time span. Armstrong County reported 10 cases, Clearfield County had three cases and Jefferson County also had two cases.
The highest number of cases reported was in Lancaster County, which reported double-digit totals over the 5-year span, including 43 cases in 2018. The county’s total of 122 cases represents 10.69 percent of all the cases in the state.
Statistics have yet to be reported for 2022.
