The Pirates yesterday signed 42-year-old left-handed pitcher Rich Hill to a one-year, $8 million contract, pending a physical. Hill will turn 43 before the season starts. He is 82-59 with a 3.85 ERA in 18 Major league seasons. Last season, he was 8-7 with a 4.29 ERA for the Red Sox. Hill has played for eleven teams in the big leagues since being drafted by the Cubs in 2004.
