Today marks the start of a busy week for the Penguins, with three games in four days, followed up by the outdoor Winter Classic game next Monday in Fenway Park against the Boston Bruins.
The Pens have not been together as a group since they lost to Carolina last Thursday, a four-day break from all hockey activities. They will have a morning skate today in New York followed by a game tonight against the Islanders. Then they return home to PPG Paints Arena tomorrow night to face the Detroit Red Wings, and on Friday they will take on New Jersey.
The Islanders and Devils games will be the first time this season the Penguins have seen those two teams. The Islanders are in sixth place in the Metro Division, three points behind the third place Penguins. The Devils are in second place, three points ahead of the Pens. The surging Carolina Hurricanes top the division, seven points ahead of Pittsburgh.
The only personnel move since last Thursday by the Penguins has been the reassignment of defenseman Mark Friedman to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Tonight’s game faces off at 7:30. The pregame on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel starts at 6:30.

The Blue Jackets and Sabres game tonight has been postponed due to the massive winter storm in Buffalo. The game was scheduled for Columbus, but the Sabres are stranded in Buffalo because the airport there is shut down by the nearly 50 inches of snow that’s fallen in western New York since Friday.
