BOYS BASKETBALL
A good one last night between United and River Valley, with the Lions getting the win. River Valley came out hot, with Jaden Whitfield scoring 11 points in the first quarter and the Panthers taking a 24-13 lead. But the Lions turned it around in the second quarter, with Joe Marino scoring 11 to lead a 22-12 surge that made it 36-35 River Valley at the half. The game was tied at 48 entering the fourth quarter, when the Lions got two three-pointers from Tyler Robertson and another one from Isaac Worthington, offsetting three-pointers by Luke Woodring and Cole Kennedy-Citeroni. United wins on their home floor, 66-60.
Robertson led all scorers with 22. Marino had 17 and Brad Felix 14 for United. River Valley was led by Woodring with 21. Whitfield had 13 and Kennedy-Citeroni 12.
United is 8-0 and 5-0 in the Heritage Conference. River Valley dropped to 4-4 and 3-2 in the conference.
Penns Manor is still unbeaten in the Heritage Conference. The Comets last night beat Purchase Line, 54-50.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
In WPIAL action, Indiana scorched Hempfield, 70-52. Eve Fiala led all scorers with 24 points and Katie Kovalchick had 19.
HOCKEY
Philip Bell scored two goals and Jayden Learn made ten saves as Indiana shut out Westmont Hilltop, 5-0. Sam Barley, Gabe Nettleton, and Landon Wilson also scored for Indiana, which evened its record at 6-6-1.
